How do I open the glass box?
When you click an object, you should check it automatically. There is no need for the "check" button.
Game bugged after putting the postcard together and getting the letters. Now I can only interact with my inventory and nothing else.
A suggestion, it's usually not good in puzzle games when new stuff happens without the player directly affecting it. I accidentally checked the window a second time and found a scrap of paper that wasn't there before. I normally wouldn't have checked again, as I would have assumed it to show up the first time I looked. If you want the player not to find something until after a certain story beat, hide it behind a puzzle instead of just having it appear when you want them to find it.
Also I feel like interaction could have been smoother, instead of having a prompt ask me if I want to check a place out, just let me check it. The prompt just halts the gameplay in a distracting way.
I liked the box puzzle, that was clever. Include more puzzles like that, instead of just having the player search around the room. Good art style, it seems you are well receptive to feedback, so I think you will make some great games in the future.
Thanks so much for the comments and feedback!!
For the bug after putting the postcard together, I haven't seen that one before so I'll have to look into it...would you happen to remember which screen it happened on?
For the scrap of paper that's stuck in the window, that's supposed to appear after the player has done a certain action, and there's a glass knocking sound to let the player know it's been placed there. (Kind of like where you solve a puzzle that unlocks something in another room). I was trying to go for a sort of creepy effect where someone is in/outside the room but you can't see them. I'll be thinking about how to effectively have these effects without negatively affecting the gameplay too much.
As for the prompts that ask if you want to check something out, I fully agree with you, I definitely should have taken those out. Those buttons were there from when I was learning the Phaser framework and how mouse input worked and I just kept them there...:D
Again thank you so much for trying it out and the detailed feedback!
About the glitch, if I remember correctly, I was at the dessert, then I went in my inventory, to stare at the postcard, then exited my inventory, exited the dresser and went back to the main position. After that, I couldn't click on anything else except inventory.
For the window, that makes sense, I was being inattentive, sorry. Could you put a disclaimer in the game description that sound is required for the game? Unless its there already and I missed that too.
Thanks for the reply, can't wait to see what you make next.
Теперь все работает) Спасибо за игру) Успехов в создании новых игр. Будем ждать
Спасибо!! :)
Hey, the graphics are super cool, but the gameplay needs some improvements. I'd love to try it again if you're still working on it!
Thanks for the comment! Yes I will be adding some stuff, so it would be great if you could come back once that's in place:)
In terms of gameplay, is there anything that stood out in needing more improvement other than the lack of clues? I'm pretty much new to games in general so I'd appreciate any input. Thank you!!
Hi, thanks for getting back to me.
Nothing major, just some minor bugs:
There might be some extra stuff, but I didn't stick around too much 😅
I used Google translate, here's the original:
Thank you for the comment! I will be adding an image in the game that will help with the blue squares.
I consider myself pretty good at solving these kinds of puzzle games, but this one is so obtuse, that there is no way to finish it without brute forcing it. You give zero clues and it appears that you want us to look outside the game for some of the answers.
On the plus side, your tiny room looks nice.
Go back and add some clues. Your players cannot read your mind.
Thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree, I released it due to deadline reasons but I'm definitely going to go back and add some clues. And it's my first game I made too so I'm all over the place haha.
In the meantime, the blue square with a single dot on the top right corner is supposed to be a 9, and the one with a single dot on the top left corner is a 7. I wonder if that helps?
Actually, that was enough to solve that, thanks. Now incorporate that into the game.
Also, you give the prompt YYYY-MMDD on the laptop, but the hyphen is not allowed in the text box. Assuming you intended the date from the postcard, then it doesn't solve.
Great! I'll put that in once I finish drawing it :)
As for the YYYY-MMDD, it wasn't intended to be a hyphen...
What if I had this display instead?
2022-1010=1012
YYYY-MMDD=????
Very bad gameplay
Thanks for the comment!
What do you think could be improved? It's my first game so I would definitely appreciate any advice.
